Fishing Report - 6/11/26

Runoff is starting to wind down, fishing is picking up, and it sure is looking like the time to strike while the iron is hot on our local freestones! Dropping flows and improving clarity over the next week should make for excellent fishing conditions. We are starting to see significant insect activity, more surface action, and browns are still aggressively chasing streamers in the higher flows.

Anglers should have plenty of options for quality fishing over the next week, check out our report below for the latest conditions and flies, and feel free to give us a call at the shop for the most up-to-the-minute reports! (307) 460-2221.

Upper North Platte

Flows: ~ 450 cfs (Northgate)

Conditions: The Platte is still fluctuating a bit, but we should be seeing flows start to drop consistently over the next week. Conditions have been day-to-day, but we are expecting to see more consistent conditions in the days ahead. Stonefly and caddis nymphs are always effective this time of year, and we have seen some good results with caddis larva patterns as well. Caddis and PMDs make up most of the dry fly activity right now, although we have had the most action on the surface with larger hopper and stonefly attractor patterns. Streamer fishing has been pretty consistent and should remain that way until flows drop fully into summertime patterns.

Flies: Dries; Chubby Chernobyl, Stimulator, Humpy, Amy's Ant, Carnage Stone, Fluttering Stone, Light Cahill, Blue Wing, Elk Caddis, Para Adams

Nymphs; Pat's Rubber Legs,20 Incher, Smethurst's Stone Bomb, Caddis Larva, Blowtorch, Guide's Choice Hare's Ear, Copper John, Duracell Bomb, Pheasant Tail

Streamers; Galloup's Nancy P, Mini Dungeon, Circus Peanut, Mini Bangtail, Heisenberg, Zoo Cougar, Sculpzilla, Tequeely, Thin Mint, Slumpbuster, Platte Spider

Laramie River

Flows: ~ 90 cfs (Woods Landing, WY)

Conditions: The Laramie has been dropping with improving fishing conditions. We are seeing fish go after bigger streamer patterns while the flows are still up a bit, seeing good results with full-sized Circus Peanuts and Dungeons. Hopper droppers will be another solid option as water clarity improves. Much like the Platte, hopper and caddis attractor patterns seem to be the most effective this time of year. Stonefly, caddis, and larger mayfly nymphs will be the most effective nymph patterns right now.

Flies: Dries; Blue Wing, Light Cahill, Stimulator, Humpy, Amy's Ant, Foam PMX, Chubby Chernobyl

Nymphs; 20 Incher, Pat's Rubber Legs, Tim's Stone, San Juan Worm, Get Down Worm

Streamers; Sex Dungeon, Circus Peanut, Mini Bangtail, Mini Dungeon, Sculpzilla, Silvey's Sculpin, Platte Spider, Stacked Blonde, Zoo Cougar

Tributary Streams

Flows: ~ 50-400 cfs

Conditions: Most of our tributary streams are receding with clarity improving daily. Nearly all of the major tributaries to the Platte and Laramie Rivers should be coming into their finest form of the season and this week should be a great time to get out there!

Flies: Dries; Stimulator, Humpy, Elk Caddis, Para Adams, Amy's Ant, Dave's Beetle, Chubby Chernobyl

Nymphs; 20 Incher, Rubber Legs, Blow Torch, 307 Nymph, Hare's Ear, Copper John, San Juan Worm

Streamers; Thin Mint, Wolly Bugger, Platte River Spider, Tequeely, Slumpbuster, Pine Squirrel, Dirty Hippie, Baby Gonga

Alpine Lakes and Streams

Conditions: Most lakes should be accessible by now, although some lingering snowpack may complicate access to some higher elevation lakes still.

Flies: Nymphs; Hare's Ear, Copper John, Pheasant Tail, Scuds, Zebra Midge

Streamers; GB Crystal Bugger, Pine Squirrel, Platte Spider, Thin Mint, Balanced Thin Mint
