Fishing Report - 6/26/25

Great hatches, great flows, and great water temperatures - now is the time to get out there! The North Platte and Laramie Rivers have dropped to wadeable flows and are both fishing well. Tributary streams are in great shape as well with great clarity, good flows, and plenty of insect activity. We have been seeing plenty of caddis and PMDs, along with small golden stones and few drakes starting to appear.

Lower elevation lakes in the Snowies such as Owen and Rob Roy are open and accessible and should provide excellent fishing during the ice-off period. Higher elevation lakes should be iced-off and fully accessible as well!

Upper North Platte

Flows: ~ 350 cfs (Northgate)

Conditions: The Platte is continuing to drop with clarity improving every day, we should see very wadeable flows for the next week. Hopper droppers and streamers should be the primary menu items moving forward. Look for PMDs, Caddis, Yellow Stones, and drakes on the lower stretches.

A stonefly, caddis nymph, mayfly nymph, or worm will be the most effective patterns for your dropper. The early post-runoff window can also be a great time to take big fish and big streamers - large articulated patterns thrown tight to the bank should be the most effective.

Flies: Nymphs; Rubber Legs, Flexy Stone, Restless Stone, 20 Incher, Tim's Stone, CDC Stone, San Juan Worm, Squirmy Wormy, Devil Jig, Duracell, HDA FAV, Blowtorch, Prince Nymph, Hare's Ear

Dries; Chubby Chernobyl, Amy's Ant, Elk Caddis, Stimulator, Corn Fed Caddis, Light Cahill, Para Adams

Streamers; Mini Dungeon, Tequeely, Circus Peanut, Bangtail, Flathead Kitty, Sculpzilla, Slumpbuster, Platte River Spider, Barely Legal

Laramie River

Flows: ~ 75 cfs (Woods Landing, WY)

Conditions: The Laramie River has dropped to great wading levels and has been fishing great! Fish are chasing streamers and taking nymphs, although we haven't seen a ton of consistent surface activity. That will be likely to change over the next week with the appearance of some bigger mayflies. A hopper dropper rig or an articulated streamer will be your best bet over the next week.

Flies: Dries; Carnage Drake, Bear's Hi Vis Drake, Chubby Chernobyl, Swisher's Foam PMX, Amy's Ant, Para Adams

Nymphs; Green Drake Nymph, Hare's Ear, Rubber Legs, Flexy Stone, 20 Incher, San Juan Worm, Squirmy Wormy, Restless Stone, CDC Stone, Copper John, Prince Nymph, Devil Jig, 307 Nymph, Hell Razor Craw

Streamers; Mini Dungeon, Circus Peanut, Tequeely, Boogieman, Heisenberg, Flathead Kitty, Bangtail, Baby Gonga, Slumpbuster, Sculpzilla, Thin Mint

Tributary Streams

Flows: ~ 30 - 250 cfs

Conditions: Tributaries to the Laramie and North Platte Rivers are offering some excellent fishing right now. Hopper droppers rigs and streamers should be effective with a little bit of everything on the menu right now.

Flies: Dries; Chubby Chernobyl, Carnage Drake, Bear's Hi Vis Drake, Humpy, Light Cahill, Elk Caddis, Stimulator, Corn Fed Caddis, Para Adams

Nymphs; Rubber Legs, 20 Incher, San Juan Worm, Squirmy Wormy, Restless Stone, CDC Stone, Blow Torch, Devil Jig, Copper John, HDA FAV, Hare's Ear, Prince Nymph, Hell Razor Craw

Streamers; Mini Bangtail, Boogieman, Thin Mint, Wolly Bugger, Platte River Spider, Tequeely, Slumpbuster, Pine Squirrel, Dirty Hippie, Baby Gonga

Vedauwoo/Pole Mountain

Conditions: Small streams and ponds throughout the Vedauwoo area will provide a great option for anglers looking to avoid the post-runoff crowds on the Platte and Laramie. The brookies throughout the area provide reliable fishing and aren't overly picky, a hopper dropper rig will almost always do the trick. Stay a little on the smaller side with dries and nymphs at this point in the season.

Flies: Amy's Ant, PMX, Chubby Chernobyl, Light Cahill, Para Adams, Copper John, Prince Nymph, Hare's Ear, Pheasant Tail, Wolly Bugger, Thin Mint, Platte River Spider

Alpine Lakes and Streams

Conditions: Alpine lakes and streams are open and accessible. Fishing should be good right now following ice off, try stripping or dead-drifting nymph patterns or stripping a small leech pattern.

Flies: Hell Razor Craw, Tequeely, Slumpbuster, Wolly Bugger, GB Crystal Bugger, Pine Squirrel, Juju Midge, WD40, Ice Cream Cone
